What follows is the latest installment in our series on the inaugural women’s Ashes tour of 1934/35. The previous installment is here.
Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia v England (Second Test Match)
Day Two: 5th January 1935
Close of Play: No Play rain
Torrential rain scuppered any hope of play on day two and deprived spectators of what promised to be an intriguing day of cricket. Praise must be given to the ground authorities, who stepped in to offer an extra day, which makes the prospect of a positive result more likely.
Cricket was not the only sport affected by the weather. Greyhound and horse racing, baseball, all-grade cricket matches, Vigoro, athletics, and speedway fixtures were also rescheduled.
