Cricket lovers, historians, researchers—rejoice! We’re thrilled to announce the digitisation of the remarkable Peter Wynne-Thomas Archive, now available on the ACS website. This extensive collection is a testament to the meticulous research and passion of its namesake, a renowned scholar who dedicated his life to chronicling the history of our game.
In 1984, along with Philip Bailey and Philip Thorn, Peter co-authored the definitive reference book Who’s Who of Cricketers. In the course of his research for this seminal work, he amassed a vast fund of information on first-class cricketers, which he diligently stored in a four-drawer filing cabinet at the Trent Bridge Library, and continued to enrich with notes, newspaper cuttings, photographs and other valuable materials for the rest of his life.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Nottinghamshire CCC for their generosity in allowing us to digitise this treasure trove. Thanks to their support, we are now able to share over 7,216 pages with the cricket community. Peter’s archive offers a unique glimpse into the lives and careers of first-class cricketers, and will be an invaluable resource for researchers, fans and future generations.
Whether you’re looking to uncover the stories behind your favourite players or seeking inspiration for your own research, this archive is sure to captivate and inform.
Happy exploring!
