AUSTRALIA
SOUTH AUSTRALIA 389 (D E Pritchard 101, L T Gun 136*; J D Scott 5/92) and 406 (J W Rymill 110, D E Pritchard 61, P D Rundell 69; C V Morrissey 4/87). NEW SOUTH WALES 408 (L W Gwynne 138, A F Kippax 122; T W Wall 3/100) and 226 (L W Gwynne 41; C V Grimmett 6/103). South Australia won by 161 runs.
At Adelaide, New South Wales played South Australia in a Sheffield Shield match, with both teams missing their Test players, except for Vic Richardson, who captained South Australia and was able to celebrate his team’s first Shield victory since 1913/14. New South Wales were missing five Test men and were captained by Tommy Andrews.
INDIA
At Madras, the Europeans beat the Indians by 125 runs, after being dismissed for 66 in their first innings; C R Ganapathy took seven for 15.
OTHER NEWS
The South African Cricket Association plans to invite M.C.C. to send a touring team to South Africa in the 1926/26 season.
The Lancashire County Cricket Club committee decided they would ask Jack Sharp to captain Lancashire again in 1925, although he had stated his intention to retire at the end of 1924.
Jack Newman of Hampshire has received £1000 from his benefit match, while Bert Strudwick will receive £1856 from his benefit match, together with his subscription list and collections at the Oval.
