Day 2
Perth: Western Australia Colts v M.C.C. (two-day, not first-class)
Good Batting Practice
WESTERN AUSTRALIA COLTS 195 (H Howell 4/19, A P Freeman 2/52, F E Woolley 2/36, R K Tyldesley 4/30). M.C.C. 405/7 (J B Hobbs 74, H Sutcliffe 35, F E Woolley 52, A Sandham 79, J L Bryan 32, W W Whysall 90). Match drawn. Overnight score was: Western Australia Colts (1) 187/13.
The Colts’ innings was soon over this morning at 195. M.C.C. made no attempt to win outright, but concentrated on getting some good batting practice for everybody. All the first six batsmen scored more than 30 runs, with Dodger Whysall, no doubt feeling he has a point to make, going on to make 90 in just over 1¼ hours. The bowling of the Colts was quite weak, but the fielding was very keen.
