Day 4
Adelaide: South Australia v M.C.C.
Easy M.C.C. Victory
SOUTH AUSTRALIA 346/4 dec and 103. M.C.C. 406 and 44/1 (J B Hobbs 18*, H Sutcliffe 24). M.C.C. won by nine wickets. Overnight score was: South Australia (2) 103 all out.
With M.C.C. needing only 44 runs for victory, there were few spectators on this Armistice Day holiday, and it took the tourists only 40 minutes to score the necessary runs. Jack Hobbs and Herbert Sutcliffe opened the batting, and the fast bowler Tim Wall found some lift, hitting Sutcliffe several times on the body. The batsmen put up 41 for the first wicket before Clarrie Grimmett came on and had Sutcliffe stumped off his second ball. Jack Hearne came in and groped at the spinners’ deliveries before he eventually scored the winning run in Grimmett’s next over.
